The British boxer prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight round fight which will be shown live on Netflix.
Briton Anthony Joshua declared he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "defeat" his opponent as the combatants came face-to-face to build hype for the upcoming heavyweight fight.
Ex twice unified boxing king Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a massive uneven pairing - at Miami Kaseya Center on 19 December.
Fighter's Mindset
"I will injure his face and break his body up. My goal is to show my superiority," Joshua, 35, said.
"I will dominate him completely. That's how fighters think.
"I'm going to genuinely try to cause him pain. That's my intention."
Civil Exchange
Despite such comments, a relaxed Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - usually famous for his showmanship - shared friendly words and maintained decorum with each other.
Jake Paul instead attacked ex Joshua's opponent the Cameroonian fighter and labeled him "a joke" after the Cameroonian declined a fight offer.
Taking Aim at Tyson Fury
Anthony Joshua, at the same time, criticized British rival Tyson Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' claims he will make on a victory for Paul.
"[Paul] is better than Tyson Fury - he's present here," Joshua said.
"I give him credit for that."
Serious Opponent
Despite saying he intends to punish Paul, Anthony Joshua chose not to speak negatively about his opponent's boxing ability.
"Jake Paul is a legitimate boxer," he remarked.
Jake Paul's Background
Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has mostly fought mixed martial artists or declining opponents since turning professional.
He was defeated by Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.
Commercial Attraction
Still, the relative newcomer is still one of the sport's biggest money-making draws, consistently making substantial paydays.
Prediction and Confidence
The 28-year-old anticipated a knockout win in round four or five and claimed he would stop the long-awaited Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently under discussion for 2026.
"It will be myself against Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul stated.
Size Difference
As the two fighters met for the traditional confrontation, with their size difference on show, it drove home just how surprising this whole event is - and how amazing it is that the bout is truly happening.
